Archery Merit Badge Test

The archery merit badge test can be one of the hardest things that any boy scout will have to go through. Not only must Scouts train for this exam, they must also complete it with ease.

There is a reason why the Boy Scouts have been in existence for so many years – this group provides young men with consistent challenges. One such challenge is the archery merit badge test. In order to really train for this exam, it is best if Scouts attend a summer camp that has been designated by the official order. This way, they can be sure that they are learning the proper skills to complete the task at hand. Once they enter this type of summer camp, lessons regarding how to shoot a bow and arrow will commence almost immediately.

After Scouts have begun to train, the day will come when they must take that test. Scouts will be testing on a variety of things including: safety of the bow and arrow, parts of the bow and arrow, how to care for the equipment, and how to listen to authority. When it comes to shooting, Scouts must be able to use a recurve or longbow, or they may choose to use a compound bow. Either way, all Scouts must complete a round of four targets. Additionally, all Scouts must score at least seventy points.

If you plan on taking your archery merit badge test, be sure to pay attention during summer camp. Since most Scouts will have to take the exam on the last day of camp, it is really important that you practice all the time. Believe it or not, managing to gain seventy points is not an easy task. Thus, Scouts must be decent archers all around. In addition to shooting, don’t forget to pay attention to those safety instructions and rules. While a lot of Scouts do well when it comes to shooting, they tend to forget the specifics regarding the bow and arrow.

The best way to go about succeeding with this exam is to practice. Still, you should know that most Scouts pass this test unscathed (just remember to practice!).

If you are about to take the archery merit badge test don’t worry. This test may seem difficult, but it is really just a matter of taking your time and studying.
