Olympic Archery Bows and Arrows
Did you know that Olympic archery bows and arrows are different from the regular sort? If you love all things archery related, you will enjoy learning about the biggest competition of them all.
From all over the world archers gather every four years in order to show off their talents. This gathering of the arrow minds happens in different locations throughout the world in front of a worldwide audience. As if the pressure during a regular archery competition weren’t enough, the Olympic pressure is enough to cause the greatest archer to collapse. Since Olympic archery bows and arrows are unique, archers must train for this event years in advance using the special equipment.
While most archers wouldn’t choose to use aluminum or carbon graphite arrows during regular competitions (they are far too expensive), most Olympic archers wouldn’t have it any other way. Since these materials are super light and super fast, they are the materials of choice. Additionally, all bows must be recurved, and they can go as fast as 150 miles per hour. It may not be the dream of every athlete to compete in the Olympic Games, but this competition is one of the biggest within the archery community. In order to qualify for the games, archers must go through a series of other competitions. While many of them are eliminated, the best move on to compete with those other archers from around the globe.
This year, the summer games will be held in China, which means that those qualifying archers must make their way to this part of the world in order to compete. Those that go on to place will be known as the best in the world for at least another four years. Needless to say, this competition is a big deal, which is why these people have been practicing for months now. In order to get used to Olympic archery bows and arrows, archers must become familiar with the speed and weight of the materials used.
Imagine standing in front of the world with a bow and arrow in your hands – how do you think that you would do? While these archers might be shaking on the inside, there is no room for error on the outside.
Tune in to the games this year to see just how unique Olympic archery bows and arrows really are. Once they are crowned the best in the world, there is no going back...
